of the Year – West Lake Creek Land Exchange
The West
Lake Creek Land Exchange involving Federal and non-Federal lands in the White
River National Forest, Colorado received the FY 2004 National Land Exchange
Award. Western Land Group worked
closely with all parties in bringing this excellent exchange to fruition.
The exchange involved the conveyance of 119 acres of
National Forest System land in Eagle County to Robert Levine in exchange for 301
acres of non-Federal lands. All of
the exchange parcels were located in the White River National Forest.

In recognizing the cooperative effort between the Forest Service, Robert Levine,
Western Land Group, Pitkin County, the Aspen Valley Land Trust, the Eagle Valley
Land Trust and a host of others, Tom Thompson, Deputy Chief for National Forest
System wrote, “The team’s creativity in handling the mineral estate and
right-of-way situation for this assembled exchange, their hard work and
dedication to efficiently completing this exchange is recognized in this
award.” WLG was proud to be a part
of this effort.
