STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

Adam Poe, President of WLG, has an extensive background in both public and private sector planning, conservation, and general land management work. Working in concert with Federal and State agencies, Adam has completed dozens of transactions involving the acquisition of conservation properties in Colorado and throughout the West for WLG clients. Prior to joining WLG in 1987, he served as Vice President of Westfork Investment, Ltd., where he oversaw planning and permitting activities for a resort in southwestern Colorado. Adam also has extensive government experience with planning and regulatory programs at the State level. He has served as director the Colorado Joint Review Process, an effort to coordinate and expedite governmental reviews of energy and natural resource development projects, and held positions with the Colorado Department of Highways and the North Carolina Land Policy Council. Adam is a licensed real estate broker. He holds Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the University of Colorado and City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Thomas R. H. Glass, founder of Western Land Group, American Wetlands, Crested Butte State Bank, Gunnison Valley Insurance, and other enterprises. He is a former Colorado State Senator and Mayor of Crested Butte.  Since 1981, Tom has completed a wide variety of complex real estate transactions with local, state, and federal agencies. Tom has testified before Congress regarding real estate related matters affecting public lands on numerous occasions.  While in the General Assembly, he served on the Committee on Agriculture, Energy and Natural Resources, the Committee on Transportation, and the Committee on Health, Environment, Welfare, and Institutions. Tom has managed and directed numerous political campaigns for candidates seeking local, state and federal offices. Colorado Governors Dick Lamm, Roy Romer, and Bill Owens appointed Tom to various positions, boards and commissions. As Executive Director of the Northwest Colorado Council of Governments, Tom reported to a board of directors consisting of thirty-one local government officials and was responsible for negotiations with local, state and federal agencies. Tim Wohlgenant has combined his technical experience as a biologist with his background in conservation real estate to assist WLG clients since 1997. Tim’s previous experience includes several years at the World Wildlife Fund’s RESOLVE Center for Environmental Dispute Resolution in Washington, D.C., where he implemented international training projects and facilitated domestic consensus-based mediations. Upon returning to Colorado, Tim consulted to local governments and land trusts on open lands and natural resources planning. He holds a Master’s degree in Conservation Biology from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a bachelor’s degree from Brown University. He serves on the Board of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust and as Board President of the Bluff Lake Nature Center. He is a licensed real estate broker. Andy Wiessner has facilitated Congressionally approved land exchanges for WLG’s clientele since 1988. Andy’s expertise in legislative affairs stems from his extensive experience in Washington D.C. that includes serving as counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Public Lands and National Parks, and the Subcommittee on Mines and Mining. He has also served as a mediator for projects involving the National Wildlife Federation, U.S. Park Service, and others. Andy holds a law degree from Boston University and is a graduate of Dartmouth College. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Wilderness Land Trust, the Eagle Valley Land Trust, and the High Country News. Email: wiessner@vail.net

Mandy Roberts Metzger has worked in the area of natural resources and public lands in both the public and private sectors for over 20 years. Most recently, Mandy served as the Director of the Diablo Trust, a northern Arizona community-based land management team and National Reinventing Government Laboratory. Before her work with the Trust, Mandy was a senior natural resource aide to a former ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resource Committee in Washington D.C. She co-founded, and operated a successful public relations and marketing firm in Wyoming that recently celebrated its 21st year anniversary. Mandy currently serves on the Arizona Growing Smarter Oversight Council as Chairman of the committee’s legislative subcommittee. She is also on the steering committee for the Coconino County’s Comprehensive Plan and is a member of Arizona’s Centennial Forest Advisory Board.
