This exchange added 228 acres of land to the Glacier Club, a beautiful mountain resort north of Durango in the San Juan National Forest.
Under the exchange the Forest Service acquired 160 acres at Hermosa Creek west of Durango Mountain Resort. The Forest Service also acquired the 10.33 acre Iron Clad mine claim in the Weminuche Wilderness.
Separate from the exchange, Hermosa Properties Associates (aka the Glacier Club) donated its water right on the Hermosa Creek property to the Colorado Water Trust.
WLG was proud to complete this contentious exchange in November 2010 because it resulted in public ownership of the Hermosa Creek property which is critical to the reestablishment of the native Colorado Cutthroat Trout in this area of Colorado.
